Only male characters count this time. If your favorite character has no gender/has a different gender than male or female, feel free to ignore the gender restriction.

If the character appears in both TV and movies played by the same actor, the character has to have originated from a TV show (e.g. Mal Reynolds, or TOS Spock), not the other way around. Follow-up shows with a different cast are okay, too (e.g. Fargo or Buffy). If there are several incarnations (e.g. Sherlock Holmes, The Doctor), you may either count them as the same or as different characters, it's up to you.
